Who We Are
The House District 26 Democrats are a group of ordinary citizens from Wilsonville and Sherwood. Many of us worked in our neighborhoods during the 2004 campaign to support Democratic candidates. After the election we decided that it was important to stay active to support progressive causes. Since a group is a more potent political force than an individual, we are pooling our enthusiasm, energies, and ideas.
What we believe
1. Americans fundamentally agree with progressive ideas: fairness, opportunity, responsibility.
2. George W. Bush has led our country in the wrong direction, with disastrous results.
3. Local citizens banded together can have a large, positive impact.
4. Every American has a responsibility to help move our nation forward.
What we do
1. We meet once a month to share ideas and make plans for action.
2. We educate ourselves and others on issues and candidates.
3. We participate in our own internet discussion group.
4. We support or oppose issues.
5. We support candidates.
6. We enjoy each others’ company!
7. We sponsor events such as the recent public meeting in Wilsonville on Social Security.
